This morning we continue our series on renewable energy.  If you compiled a list of places in the world with a strong foothold in the renewable energy world, you may see Oregon listed for its solar manufacturing; or Spain and Germany for their favorable tax structures and emphasis on green technology.  But Arizona is not considered a leader, despite an abundant and obvious resource: the sun.  KJZZ’s Tony Ganzer traveled to Germany to find out why that country has made renewable energy a priority.

Stopping Stun with ThorShield

Police officers in the field rely on many tools to protect themselves.  Their arsenal contains items like batons, stun guns, and as a last resort, a firearm.  In case of an altercation, many officers rely on body armor to stop a bullet, and protect vital organs.  But if a suspect uses a stun gun against the officer…the protection is more limited.  KJZZ’s Tony Ganzer reports on a Tucson company’s invention, intended to give officers another level of protection. Prague, a city of culture

Phoenix maintains partnerships with cities around the world as a way to promote cultural and economic ties.  The sister cities program includes partnerships with places in Mexico, Canada and Japan.  But it’s a relationship with the city of Prague—the capital of the Czech Republic—that is the focus of our next story.  KJZZ’s Tony Ganzer traveled to Europe on a fellowship, and found a city rich in culture and history that few Phoenicians know much about, even though there are close Arizona ties.
