The program facilitated visits with power brokers and leaders in major German cities, The Hague, Brussels, Paris, Warsaw and other locales. Awarded the Arthur F. Burns Fellowship from the International Center for Journalists in 2008. Worked for Germany's National Broadcaster Deutsche Welle in Bonn, and concentrated on immigration issues. Won two 2006 Associated Press Awards; “First Place” Use of Sound; “Second Place” Sports Feature Won three 2005 SPJ Mark of Excellence Awards; Two “First Place,” and one “Second Place” for radio features Awarded the first-ever Michael Kirk Award for Broadcast from the University of Idaho in 2005. Work has been heard on Deutsche Welle; BBC’s “World Today”; NPR’s “All Things Considered”; NPR’s “Latino USA”; NPR Newscasts; PRI’s “The World”; NPR’s “ Day to Day”; Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR); “Living on Earth” and the Native News Network.
